Peugeot 206 Light Commercial Vans LCVs...

There is just one engine option for Peugeot's cracking little 206 Van. It's a 1.4-litre HDI common rail turbo diesel (68 bhp at 4,000rpm and 113 Ib/ft at 1,750rpm) which was added to the range in March 2002. The old 71 bhp 1.9-litre indirect injection unit was dropped from the line up in the summer of 2003.

This small capacity HDI engine suits the Peugeot 206 very well, endowing it with responsive performance, and plenty of it. It offers bags of mid-range torque, as well as ample top-end punch, and it does so quietly.

Handling and ride are well up to standard with responsive steering.

The Peugeot 206 Van has just over 1m³ of load space and is capable of carrying a gross payload of 515kg. Load length is pretty good for such a small van at 1,280mm.

For a little car-derived van the Peugeot 206 Van has a surprisingly roomy cab, with plenty of space for those little oddments that we all carry with us these days There's a large and a small pocket each of the big doors and the decent- sized glove box has indents for cups the inside of its lid.

The list of standard equipment is pretty impressive. There's remote central locking, power steering, electric windows, remote control radio/CD player, height-adjustable steering column and seatbelts, body protection strips intermittent rear wash/wipe and a hi level third brake light.

Servicing is every 12,000 miles there's a three-year warranty.

The Peugeot 206 Van is a well priced pack with a high level of specification. Excellent fuel economy provided by small capacity HDi engine makes must for the shopping list. It's being replaced by the Peugeot 207 Van in July.
